Wild Bear

I did this a few months ago but didn't have time to ever post it. It's concept art I did for Barrel Cat titled "Animal Instinct". Unfortunately, it was never used but it was great practice nonetheless. Painted in Photoshop.

Gunship Squadron

Concept art of a squadron of Gunships. They look like wasps to me so I guess I'll call them...oh, I don't know... Gunship Mark IV Wasp Squadron. Or the Unicorn Pony Kite Brigade. That's pretty original and non-threatening, right? Painted in Photoshop.

The Bat

Ok, I guess I'm pretty much painting the whole Justice League lineup of superheroes. It wasn't deliberate, I just started painting things for fun and they happened to be Justice League members. Really, I swear!

So now it's Bruce Wayne in his costume's turn. I wanted to make him dark, nightmarish and scary to contrast the other characters I've painted. If I saw a guy standing in front of me like this at night with bats flying around him, he would scare the $#!^ out of me. Even if it was Ben Affleck wearing the costume. Painted in Photoshop.

Like 99% of people out there Aquaman wasn't my favorite member of the Super Friends cartoon. He only summoned weak-looking fish like tuna and halibut and they'd do some do-gooder thing like shove Robin back onto land when he fell into the ocean. But reading his recent books has changed my mind completely. I'm a fan of the fish guy now. His appearance here is based on the "Injustice" video game and comic. I liked the look of it and painted away. Done in Photoshop.

I decided to paint this after watching an episode of Arrested Development. Why? Because Ben Stiller's magician character "Tony Wonder" has the word "wonder" in it. And that was pretty much good enough for me. Done in Photoshop.

Fish Eggs

Another aquatic themed concept art I did for Barrel Cat. An egg cluster with dozens of fish about to hatch. Painted in Photoshop with a bit of matte painting techniques.

Darth Vader

I finished up some concept art and I felt like I wanted to paint more for the sake of practice. So I did an impromptu painting in the middle of the night of Anakin Skywalker after his make-over when became evil and looked cool. And after he lifted some weights too. Photoshop painting.

Twin Castle Cities

With all the new techniques I've been learning, I decided to try a fantasy landscape. I want to get out of my comfort zone so I can be a better all-around artist. Here's two castle cities on two mountains by a big river. Done in Photoshop with some matte painting techniques.

Feeding Time! Color Version

Here's the color version of the last post I did which was....wow, 2 months ago! But during that time I've been learning new techniques as well as brushing up on my fundamentals. I needed to go back in order to go forward with my artwork. Done entirely in Photoshop.

Feeding Time!

Here's some concept art for some hungry, teethy, crazy fish I'm doing for Barrel Cat. This will eventually be colored but I have a fondness for the black and white version. Done in Photoshop.

My take on a Paladin-Knight. More specifically a Paladin from the video game World of Warcraft. Sometimes I think of going back and playing. But I know I'll play for about an hour then realize why I quit years ago. Plus I don't want to spend 800,000 hours installing the game content again. Anywho, done in Photoshop.

Feeder Fish

Another concept drawing for Barrel Cat. A feeder fish in its natural environment. Drawn and painted in Photoshop.

The Gentle Giant

Quick, simple warm up line drawing. Maybe I can use him for some kind of story. Done in Photoshop.

This what I've been up to lately and why I haven't updated on a regular basis. (This and the 3 jobs I currently hold) I've been working for months with these cool guys at BarrelCat.com on concept work of creatures for an upcoming project. This one is a mountain giant called "Titan". All done in Photoshop.
